Text Messages
LONDON, England -- One out
of three people using mobile phones in England have sent text messages to
the wrong person by mistake -- often with highly embarrassing consequences.
The tales of text message
misfortune emerged from a survey of 700 people by British Internet mobile
services provider Bolt Blue.
They include a man who
told his girlfriend he was going to share a bath with her and "soap her
all over" but sent the message to his brother.
Another man, from Bristol,
texted a friend to ask for the number of a girl he fancied but accidentally
sent the message to his own girlfriend.
And a Birmingham girl sent
a "very explicit" note to her boyfriend and was mortified when she
arrived home to be told: "That's a funny way to talk to
your
mother."
The survey also found that
67% of people regularly go through their partner's mobile phone inbox to
read their text messages.
More than 50% said they
preferred to flirt via text than face to face or on the phone and 43% had
been dumped via text.
